During the operation, police intercepted a vehicle near Ramoji Film City and recovered ₹8 lakh worth of fake ₹500 notes. Officers also seized a dummy pistol, walkie-talkies and fake IDs from the vehicle.
Following the initial seizure, police raided a rented house in Kuntloor, where they uncovered another major stockpile of counterfeit currency. The search led to the recovery of fake currency bundles worth approximately ₹6.7 crore, along with printers and editing tools allegedly used in the production of counterfeit notes.
According to the available details, the four arrested men had learned how to scan and alter genuine currency notes by watching online videos. They allegedly used this method to create counterfeit ₹500 notes and initially attempted to sell the fake currency.
However, the gang later adopted another tactic to target prospective buyers. The accused allegedly posed as police personnel and used this identity to deceive buyers who had become suspicious of the counterfeit notes. In one such incident, they reportedly stole ₹5 lakh from the buyers.
Police have arrested four men in connection with the racket, while three other suspects remain at large. Investigators are continuing their probe to trace the absconding accused and examine the network involved in the counterfeit currency operation.
The seizure of counterfeit notes worth ₹6.78 crore, along with printing equipment and other materials, has exposed the scale of the alleged operation. Police are investigating further to establish the full extent of the racket and the involvement of those still at large.
